8 months down 10 to go!!!

Hola Mamacita!
Well this week has been pretty great!
Last P-day I went to dollar tree and bought some blow-up mallets and as you can see in the picture, Hna. Burke and I had fun :P

On Tuesday, Hna. Greenfield wasn't feeling well, so we took Hna. Burke out with us for the day. Haha I think we had a little too much fun in our trio, but we still got work done and we got some referrals for the English missionaries.
We also did service for a catholic church helping with feeding people. In turn they gave us 4 bags of marshmallows. Of course we had to play marshmallow zombies! We also made spam misubi (I have no idea how to spell that :P).

We had exchanges last Friday with our STLs in North Sacramento. So I got to go there with Hna. Cuesta and Hna. Shawcroft came to Carmichael with Hna. Flores. Because of illness and Hna. Shawcroft forgot her license :P, we had to cut exchanges short at 3 in the afternoon. So we tried it again this Friday. This time, however, we drove to North Sac instead of the STLs coming to pick me up in Carmichael. Well we don't have a GPS and our Thomas Guide had pages ripped out, so we were relying on the directions of other missionaries and we got lost... We ended up in the Oakland mission far west of West Sacramento. :) So we turned around and after a bunch of time and several miles, we made it to North Sac! Haha it was fun :)

Something fun this week is that we celebrated Hna. Flores' year mark! Wooo! She's so old! Haha we burned one of her skirts and brought marshmallows to roast (yes from the service project). After burning the skirt we thought better about the marshmallows and just ate them uncooked :P

We also got to participate in Mormon Helping Hands! We went to the south side of the American River in Rancho and worked on chopping down black berry bushes along a fence in the park. Man! Those bushes are mean! but it was a lot of fun and we got free food afterwards. It's always worth it when you get free food! haha

Later that day we went to the temple with some of our Recent Converts and less actives and had a temple tour! It was super great! I love to see the Temple! Then we went to a Taqueria and I got tacos de Lengua... tongue tacos! They were pretty good, a bit chewy :)

some temple pics :) Jose doesn't like taking pictures so he is hiding behind his brother Eusebio. haha they're funny :)

Yesterday we went to the farewell of Leslie Calderon. She is so cute and so ready to leave for her mission on Wednesday. I'm so excited for her! She's going to be great! Our ward was packed full of YSA members yesterday for her farewell talk. Haha she gave it in Spanish so half the congregation was wearing translation headsets as one of our Elders translated. She did such a great job!

Carromiguel is doing good... he keeps telling me that I'm speeding but that's okay. Haha I drive all the time because Hna. Flores doesn't have a license. Oh I guess I forgot to tell you about her. She is from North Carolina, but she was born and raised in the Philippines until the age of 12. So yes, she can speak Tagalog! I'll just keep the bike with me.

our district! Haha yep there's only four of us and I think technically the ZLs are in our district too. The Elders are in an English ward. All the spanish missionaries are in different districts, but we still have fun!

I might get transferred; it's always a possibility. I'll tell you what happens and how will skype and stuff like that next Tuesday. You probably know just as much about the mission split as I do :P

Well I love you the most and I'll email you next Tuesday!

Hola Tiwi!!!

Hola Mamacita!
Well this week we got a new companion! His name is Carromiguel (Carmichael in spanish :P) and we got him at zone conference last wednesday. He's a little black box that's stuck to our car and he monitors our speed, aggressive driving, and some other stuff! He's a little annoying, but only when I'm speeding :P So really he's a nice little guy.

At the zone conference, Sister Jardine told me that she saw Joylyn, then I went on exchanges with my STL, Hna. Cuesta in North Sac, and she said she saw her too! Haha I'm not close to them at all! Sister Schow says I need to go see Jacelyn, but I don't think that would be wise, rules are rules and they are there for a reason! :)
Hna. Flores and I drive on Greenback a lot and if we go far enough east, we start to see hills. Hey! Those are the hills that I grew up living at the bottom of! Haha It's so weird, I'm so close and yet so far!
Hna. Flores still hasn't been feeling too well, so we haven't been able to work a lot this week, but yesterday afternoon I had Leslie take me out and we went to an apartment complex where there were a ton of Hispanics every where. I felt like a child in a candy store. I started running around with my #Graciasaqueelvive cards and contacting everyone I could see. It was so fun! I've missed this. There were some hispanics running with their garbage bags, so I started running after them and asking them a bunch of questions while running with them. Maybe it wasn't good to run after them, but I did it anyway and it was great! Haha Leslie and I had a great time! She's leaving in 9 days to go to the MTC! She'll be a fantastic missionary!
A few days ago, Hna. Burke and I went out for pizza with a member. Hna. Flores was sick and Hna. Greenfield can't eat gluten or dairy. So we left them with Sister Schow and had a great time with one of our members and taught a lesson. I'm hoping Hna Flores will get better, she hasn't been able to get out much, but we're praying and we're going to do something about it! It's going to be great!

Awesome week

April 13, 2015
Hola Mamacita!
This week has been pretty awesome. Haha we had so much fun with Hna. Burke's birthday, the best part is that we're not companions and therefore I can be a little more sneaky. :P Hna Flores and I were able to heart attack her apartment and Hna. Flores made a sweet planner cover.
Well, you know, I didn't really do anything for Easter, it was pretty much a normal day except for the fact that we had conference. Which is always a great day.
Leslie lives in the Spanish ward but she also goes to the YSA ward, she's pretty awesome and she's been out with us to visit people a few times. I don't really care if I have a card or not. It might be nice, but whatever. :P
Health wise, I think I'm the healthiest person in the whole mission! Haha well, maybe not but I haven't gotten sick. I think it has to do with the fact that I kind of grew up here. :P I know Hna. Burke, Flores, and Greenfield have not been feeling well...I don't know what's wrong with me, because I feel great!
This area is a lot different from my last area. In my last area I could go on without speaking English if I really wanted to, there were so many Hispanics! Here, I'm lucky if I speak Spanish! There are so many white people, it's just scary! :) The other day we were phone-booking (looking in the phone book for Spanish names and hoping they speak Spanish) and we came across a Russian. huh? Haha they didn't speak any English so they said "Have a good day" in a heavy accent and slammed the door. Aww, but before we left I had to take a picture with their chicken that was in their front yard; he was pretty cool. :P
Because the mission office is in our area, we've stopped by quite a few times. We always talk with the senior missionaries and they are awesome! I just had to take a selfie with Sister Ficklin :)
We finally got a new investigator this week! My first one in the area! His name is Al, he's 75 and from Spain. We brought a member out contacting and we almost let him go because he spoke perfect English and is white, but then he started speaking Spanish to our member and we realized that he was from Spain. OH! I'm not sure that we'll go too far with him because he said he'll never read the book of Mormon and that he only believes in something if someone witnesses it and then tells him in person. In other words he doesn't believe in the Old Testament and most of the New Testament, but he believes in God and Jesus Christ. Ummmm it's quite interesting.
Well, we're hoping we can find more people because right now we have one investigator and we can't find her. Ummmmm... hurray for Spanish work in Carmichael! It's a lot harder than in Sacramento stake, but it's still just as fun! :D

Para Siempre Dios este con Vos,

Con Amor,

Nerf Guns

April 6, 2015
Hola Mamacita!

That's so funny, I was just going to email you and tell you to write Hna. Burke for her birthday! Haha we're having a party on Friday and we are going out to eat sushi with all the Sisters in our zone. Sadly it's not Mukuni's, but it's a little far from where we live even though it's in our area.
Well everyone in our zone has a nerf gun, so I caved and bought myself a nerf gun for zone sports :P . Haha It's not the one in the picture, it's Hna. Flores'. I just like the way hers looks. :P

Even though Hna. Burke and I aren't companions, we see each other every day and we eat food with them all the time! We went to her house the other day and the members she lives with have a ton of musical instruments: piano, guitar, violins, ukelele, and a mandolin! They convinced me to take home a violin so now I have a violin to practice with! I discussed it with Sister Schow and we're going to start a band! I'm going to play the violin, Hna. Flores will be on the piano and sing soprano, and Sister Schow will sing alto. It's going to be great!

We watched conference at our stake center and it was great! I loved it! I watched it in English, but when the Spanish speakers spoke, I got a translating headset so I could listen to it in Spanish. It's a lot better when you can hear it in their native language! I loved all the talks, they were so good! A lot of talk about the family, great stuff!
Things are going really well with Hna. Flores, she's been a bit sick this week, so we really haven't worked too much, but I feel like everyone is sick. I'm hoping we'll be able to work more this next week.
Haha I don't even have my bike with me, it's still in Sacramento! So no, I have not had to ride my bike yet :P Eventually Hna. Clark will get it to me when there's a mission leadership meeting or something, but for now I am bikeless. :) Honestly, I don't think it would be very hard to go my whole mission without riding a bike, it's just not very effective in Spanish work.
Picture: I found my own apartment complex off of Auburn Blvd! Yes!

I'm so happy that you could be with the whole family! That's so fun! Please tell everyone that I love them!
